Everyone Loves Owls

Everybody really loves Raymond, but today we're looking up at a bird house. Just had to share this MSNBC story about an owl family that is on Television with their own show. Maybe they rival Raymond? What do you think? They are both "Family" rated.

Millions of viewers have tuned in to watch an owl couple settle in to a birdhouse that has been wired with cameras. From the comfort of our homes we can watch their lives play out as they nest, mate, lay eggs, brood and tender them until they fly off on their own.

A new episode may be in the hatching come springtime and they return. At the present time they flew the coop. To see a news clip from previous episodes take a look at this UStream.

Bird Watch Radio

Taking flight around the internet, I've landed on a fascinating perch: a birdwatching podcast with plenty of links for birders. Steve Moore birdwatch radio show is off the air, however all the archives are available for listening and you'll find a list of bird-links.

What's it like to be a bird lover? Watch the video below and experience a bit of nature. Listen to the callers on Steve's podcast, watch the episodes of the Owl Family on television or simply go outside and watch for the most common birds in your region. Robins, wrens, chick-a-dees, blue jays and even crows can be a thrill to watch and hear their calls.

Thanks for the Hub Debbie.

When I got out of bed this morning, I didn't think I'd spend 15 minutes reading about and watching owls of all things. Only 65 species of bird in Antarctica? Must be a hearty lot. Nice job.

That was absolutely awesome Debby. Thank you ever so much for sharing. Both the video on the screech owl family as well as the link to Ustream were fabulous.

Hello TomTipton and Sabu Singh ~ What fun to make new friends. I guess The Owl Story called out to you. My very favorite memories are walking in the woods at college camp and learning the owl calls. Even now, as I sleep, I can hear them when then roam around my home looking for food and calling for mates. I call back and they always answer, "Who Cooks for You!"

Hey Fluffy - you know I haven't checked out whether the station is still playing this show, but at least I have recorded some of the owl beauty here. Take care, Debby
