Homeopathy Blog Talk Radio | Homeopathy World Community

A friend gave herself a personal challenge to read Hahnemann's Organon in one year. When I heard about this and the fact she was going to also write a companion blog to follow this journey, I gave her another challenge. "How would you like to produce a radio show? We could do this together!"

I wanted to learn and do a more in-depth study of this great foundation piece of literature. All homeopaths study these aphorisms to understand the philosophy of homeopathy, plus the practical application and "how to" put it to work and see successful results. Anyone who wants to start a creative endeavor needs to have a structure, a commitment and a buddy system to make it happen. Especially when you start telling everyone that you are going to reach a goal, whether it be loss weight or write a book. In order to accomplish a task, you want to make it happen. Two heads are better than one, and just like having a exercise 'work-out' partner, when one is weak the other is strong. "Hey, come on, we can do it!"

Even though we had only met over the internet and had hardly spoken a word to each other we decided to give it a try. There were a lot of obstacles to overcome. First, neither of us had done a radio show before. We had to find the venue, the application, create the theme, find music, come to agreement on the tone, develop a time line and schedule, and work out the technicalities of living thousands of miles apart.

There were plenty of browns out or internet black outs, which we either had to recover or accept as part of the show. We decided to pre-record the first set of shows to get our feet wet. It was going along swimmingly, and I think we were getting more comfortable with talking on air about our personal insights.

The idea was not that we were any authority on Hahnemann or his writings, but that we were two students discussing and creating our own commentary. How did we see his writings apply in today's world.

After many brainstorming sessions we came up with a title, "Who's Reading the Organon?" We wanted students and homeopaths alike to take the book off their shelf and start reading along with us. We wanted our enthusiasm and energy to move more people to go back to the roots and foundation source of homeopathy. 

The best part of our study, now that we have completed 40 shows, is that we are really getting a feel for what is being taught through Hahnemann's words. He is our teacher. We are the students. He is sitting there in the room with us, admonishing us, encouraging us, humoring and tutoring us. 

An Unusual Beginning

Many may think it strange that we started our radio show from the middle of the book, rather than at the very beginning. The idea that most people pick up "The Organon" and start reading and then get lazy and put it down so that they never get to the end was Vera's inspiration to actually finish the book first. She's got her notions, but it seems to have worked. 

Now that we are back at the first aphorisms, I feel as if we have skipped ahead, like students who have skipped a grade. Now, we have knowledge of many of the answers to the questions before we've been asked. In a way, it is comforting to see the path ahead of us and know where we are going. Hahnemann is leading us through the principles so that we can get to the practicum - the method of practicing. 

It's been an enjoyable ride so far. I keep calculating that we do 5 shows per week and there are 52 weeks in a year. We've come a long way with 40 shows and I talk about the numerical meaning of that 40 cycle in the fortieth show. Take a listen. 

Each show begins with one of my favorite things ~ social networking. On Twitter and other places you will find incredible quotes from famous and noteworthy people. Authors, nobel prize winners, scientists, philosophers, artists and leaders have given us words to live by. Through some form of synchronicity these messages come either through twitter, an email, the spoken word and then I share them with the listeners. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.

In addition, since this is an outcropping of Homeopathy World Community, I share some news about our members, the super forum discussions, or news around the world. Hahnemann also had a circle of people - his social network - that he engaged with to learn, share and grow. And our community is part of the world society, a mix of many cultures, religions, countries which brings us together by talking about important news that affects all of us.
