I'm Lost And Then I'm Found Sing With Me "Amazing Grace" On Hubpages
75Dedicated To The Ones We Love
I'm dedicating this Hubpages to a "Soul Sister" who found me just this week. Actually, she called me a "Birth Sister." We have different backgrounds, live in different parts of the country, practice different religions, traveled a different path in school, yet our strong connection to spiritual roots bind us together. Close in age, we share many passions about health, preserving the environment, listening to romantic music, playing with and encouraging our children and being guided by spirit.
That Song In My Head
After a number of dialogues on our mutual Hubpages, she posted a reply that started me singing. Yes, I seem to have these one-liners floating in my head that trips the wire to start singing and dancing old tunes that replay in my head.
Storytellersrus said, "I was lost, but now am found . . ." when reading my Healing and Peace through Yoga and Meditation Hub.
Her Words Are A Constant Reminder Of Source Energy
And, wouldn't you know it, I'm singing again and must go find a few back up tunes and musical selections to keep the music alive. This Hubpages gives tribute to one person, who represent many in this loving community, but also to the value of social networking. Because many people have still not jumped on the bandwagon, if they happen to read this blog, perhaps that will be the impetus for them to become involved in sharing their thoughts, their lives, their troubles, heartaches and joys. When I tell people that I blog, they hesitate and have a look of amazement on their faces. Although they have not ventured out and may be missing out in finding friends, one day they may read something that will change their minds.
LeAnn Rimes Sings Amazing Grace Acapella
When You Are At The Lowest Point In Your Life
When Elvis sings Amazing Grace you will hear the words, "Once I was lost and now I'm found." Thus, he speaks of returning to God. A troubled man throughout his life could sing this song from the heart and you can tell his truth. Other great soul brothers and sisters have sung this tune, on holidays, in church and choirs around the world most people know the tune and the words.
What Is The Personal Message You Receive?
Because someone actually spoke these words to me directly, I heard the words anew and wanted to find my own personal interpretation for them. In the fact that I am not a Christian or Catholic person and do not usually sing this song, what meaning could it have for me at this time in my life? I have written the lyrics to "Amazing Grace" below with this emphasis on the concept of feeling lost, alone and lonely, which means that we are separated from others, from community, from support, from a Holy spark. This song describes the feeling of being found, being in community, feeling supported and cared for by the Holy One Above, but also by family, friends and neighbors. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, our vision of self and how we feel internally plays a large part in the 'Saving Grace' this feeling of support for the Holy Soul we carry within this vessel we call our body.
Finding Grace
Many people say, "Grace" before and or after a meal. They give thanks that God has provided for their needs. Many times we realize the gifts we receive have not been earned by anything we have done. This is true Grace. Sometimes we say, "We are blessed." You may notice that whenever I can I find a time to say, "Blessings" because I believe this reminds me of all the small miracles and goodnesses in my life. This also sends a message outward to the other who may also be in times of need and can receive a blessing of 'hope.' The more blessings I can give, the lighter and more joyful the words will be.
Singing Your Heart Felt Song of Grace
The Three Selections Presented
I have chosen three versions of this song for your listening pleasure. Every time I listen to these words and the way these singers put them to the melody brings tears to my eyes.
Uncovering The Eyes
Ray Charles sings this song with compassion and knowing in all aspects physical, emotional and spiritual
When our awareness has been covered and hidden from us, either because God did not disclose some information at a time in our life's journey, or because of our own iniquities of stubbornness, resentment, grief, loneliness, hatred or other emotion or self realization that moment of 'awakening' will bring this light.
The words, "I was lost and now I am found" express it all. We are found, not only God, but our own inner personal spirit and reason for going on with our lives. This awareness can bring us out of a deep depression. This awareness can heal old wounds. This awareness can mend broken relationships and broken hearts. This awareness can change old non-productive habits.
The End Result
Finding something that was lost can bring that incredible sense of relief from anxiety and panic in the larger and smaller incidents in life. Like when you lose the house or car key, this means you cannot enter, you cannot leave, you cannot move forward. But, when you find that key you have the freedom to go places and do all the things that were thwarted before. You can see how important the "finding" can be in the wider and broader sense of 'finding self' opening to a new realization that unlocks an awareness that can help us move forward to unimaginable things we have never experienced before or wish to return to those times of greatness.

The Serif Font Divided into Two Lines Each Are The Words Of Amazing Grace
Ray Charles Sings Amazing Grace Soulful Song
The Lyrics To Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound
Listen to the introduction to each of the voices we hear.
Listen to the humming and warbling of the throat sounds
Listen to the way we pronounce each word and tie it to the next.
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
We begin in a place of darkness empty of light
We begin in a place of ugliness and despair
We begin in a place of name-calling and lack of self worth
That saved a wretch like me
once was lost, but now I'm found
The moment of grace our eyes are opened
The moment when God Creator of all things steps in
The moment when we hear the beauty of His voice within
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
When we are unworthy we do not deserve gifts
When we do not feel under His wings we live in fear
When we utilize our place of fear to go higher we receive
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
In the hour of our greatest need we are quiet
In the hour of our darkest shadow we can see a spark of light
In the hour when we can't go any lower we are saved
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
It is our belief in God that can set us free
It is our belief in His all encompassing power to heal hurts
It is our belief in His embrace and Love that enables us to change
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
We are reminded of the world's history of birth
We are reminded of Noah and the flood
We are reminded of God's eternal power of forgiveness
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
God has made a promise to us never to destroy the world
God asks us to make a promise to Him that we not destroy the world
God and Mankind must walk together in this journey called life
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
If I carry His words and thoughts in my heart and soul
If I carry His deeds and promise to do them
If I am with Him then He is with me always
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
In the end our bodies will die
In the end my spirit will be in Heaven
In the end it is my good deeds on this earth that will renew
God's love The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Wonderful hub, and you are a wonderfuil writer. God Bless You.
This is a beautiful hub, Debby, especially for this time of year. I love the Ray Charles version of Amazing Grace. Not just another song, but a message that continues to touch hearts and souls. How blessed we are to have a Creator who cares this much about us and who showers us with His grace. Thanks for making us stand still for a while to ponder this again.
Dear Debby,
It has been way too long since I have visited and this was a fabulous hub to happen upon. Voted UP & UABI.

Good Morning, Debby,
Thank you for the kind offer and I wonder if you let the Cafe regulars know about this lovely hub as well...? As I love popcorn by the fire, I will take you up on your kind ofer and rest today, as I am 'a little' under the weather.
Yes, I wanted to show off my Aunt Baby's holiday neckwear. Thanks for noticing my new avatar.
Love, mar.
Debby, What an amazing, inspirational, wonderful hub! In particular, I really like the way you end with the words for all of us to read after your three dramatic video presentations. Each of the artists has a signature interpretation which does the song justice.
Thank you for sharing, etc., and with happiest 2011/2012 wishes to you and yours,
Derdriu
P.S. Thank you for including me on your list: back at you!

Awww, I love this hub...and NOT because you mentioned me here, (but, thank you). Amazing Grace is a very special song for me. It gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it, or even as I am writing this to you mentioning it.
Many years ago when we attended a (metaphysical) church in Michigan this song would be played or sung frequently. I've often told my children that I want this played at my funeral on bagpipes.
Thanks so much for the beautiful hub and examples of various vocalists. Many blessings, --Denise
I have also always loved this song. It sends shivers down my spine. You have written a really lovely hub.
Hi Debby I've only just found this!!
Thanks so much for the mention I am honoured :D
Though not religious myself I really enjoyed this hub. it's wonderful how you found your soul sister and you make some very good points.
Peace & Love
~Kaz x
You brought a smile to my face and tears to my eyes. Thank you, sweet lady. Many blessings to you...
Thanks...not sure how 'fun' the rest of my w/e will be since I have to work, but thank you for the well wishes just the same. :)
Good point...I'll keep that in mind when I'm working my (midnight) shift. Thanks! :) As for the 'home' fun...that will be when I crawl under the covers as everyone wakes up and my head hits the pillow. That's the most fun I have when I do those 12 hr shifts.
LOL thank you...I'll take any positive thoughts for managing the hours of nightshine. Take care and YOU enjoy your weekend.
Debby. Isn't it amazing, this grace that holds off until the exact right moment? I could not have read this on a more difficult day, in a more trying time. Your beautiful interpretative words had tears running down my cheeks.
One would think three artist's renditions were enough, but no! I cannot wait to hear my favorite of all the artists- the bagpipe. Even without the words, it is my favorite. Its layered sound pierces every cell and... I know the words. I don't need them sung to know what is being said. A bagpiper played this song as we released doves at Baba's funeral and... yep.
Now you have introduced me to a myriad of new hubbers I have not met. I am going to book mark this and pledge this year to visit each of their hubs. Of course I know Frank and prasedio, Lapse, Minnetonka Twin, epigramman, General Howitzer and dear, dear Tom, among others. But I want to know all your friends, dear Birth sister.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such an inspiration to us all.
Debby, you are amazing grace- a gift of light on a once grey sky day now transformed bright by your illuminating energy. Thank you thank you thank you!
what a nice tribute!
Hello Debby! This was my father's favorite hymn. The song as deep meaning and it has the ability to change a person's outlook in just seconds after hearing it. I love your posting of the different music artist renditions of this song and posting the words is a great read! Voted up!
Debby, you are so very talented and you through this hub touched a special part of my heart--bless you for the grace you bestow

I have always loved this song. I feel such a peace wash over me. A few months ago, my hubby had a phone call out of the blue. It was a long lost sister of his reaching out to her siblings that she had just found. She hadn't seen any of them in 38 years.
I feel blessed knowing many of the people here on HubPages, and am sad when they move one. You have a great list of hubbers here. Thanks for sharing this hub. I am looking forward to reading more.
