#OWS Occupy Wall Street Turns Violent Is This The Land Of The Free Our America?

By Debby Bruck

After tweeting, "Whoever does not love his work cannot hope that it will please others. #quote "

I saw that occupy wall street had heated up to the point of violence in the streets.

This activity draws people together in war-like game fashion

Serious in nature - innocent people can be harmed

Bringing your women and children into the fray may not be wise

Whole families respond to the effects of unemployment

Loss of housing and other basic needs leads to confrontation

We see the images below and wonder if mass hysteria has become

The watchword of our times when we raise our placards in fear and desperation

A time when depression and sadness reach epidemic levels

In turn weakened immune systems without spiritual nutrition

Spreads a low vital force throughout neighborhoods, homes, individuals

People walk about with a glum expression and do not know

Where to turn for assistance and help when social services deleted

Leave them without recourse or resource

People using cardboard boxes and tables as shields

Police using pointed rubber bullet filled guns that can harm as much as a bullet

Protestors throwing back the tear gas canisters

Inciting further panic into authorities geared in black leather and helmets

I don't know where this will lead us

What I do know is fear, sadness that this country has gone awry from

America the streets paved with gold

Why are we using gas masks in America?
Why are we using gas masks in America?

Occupy Wall Street. Does anyone care? #OWS The money took wings and flew into the hands of those with millions leaving the rest to pay the invoice

My First Occupy Wallstreet Blog | The whole mass protest on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City started out in a very peaceful way. The police rounded up the people causing mass hysteria and havoc, putting people into jail, including journalists who should have had the freedom to record events.

Citizen Journalists | Today everyone can record and document the events that occur making it impossible to hide the truth. Many take risks with their lives and securing their family's welfare in order to speak out and be part of these revolts in America. This blog shows just one recording of many available.

We live in a world of confusion

I cannot even fathom that this is the United States of America

A revolution

A rebellion

Decent in the streets against authority

Was it deserved?

Did citizens destroy property?

Did they escalate the confrontation?

Where are the peace makers?

Where are the experts in conflict resolution?

Where are the people on all sides sitting down at a table to talk?

Where is the peace pipe?

Is this the United States of America that you know from your childhood?

Why does this feel like another country?

Why does this feel like nations against nations?

Why can't this end with solutions where people feel they have been heard?

All I have are questions and no answers

Waiting for leadership in the land where the streets were paved with gold.

This blog follows up on the occupy wall street activity that began earlier in 2011. The streets heat up with smoke and bullets. People use flimsy shields in war-like fashion. Where does this take us in the land of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution?

Life in this country, as we know it, is over. Make preparations now.

Dear Elder Young Man ~ I love you right winged nut. We need more people to reign in the craziness. Blessings, Debby

My word Debby, you've covered a multitude of problems in an eloquent and impassioned hub.

I feel there's no choice but to universally prepare ourselves for an unknown and previously unmapped future..this decay is happening all over the world in tandem, and is unstoppable like falling dominoes.

Chaos, depression, hopelessness invading all preconceived securities most of us have held as givens.

Build the inner spirit. We will need the strength.

Dear Breen. What bothers me the most? When people stand on two opposing sides feeling they have been offended, we see in historical movies or read in books about two leaders coming towards each other, whether on horseback or on foot. They approach each other so that the conversation begins. I don't see any talking. Where are the leaders? Where is the police chief? Where is the #OWS leadership who gives authority and helps to stage these events?

Breen Bergstrome 3 months ago

Lack of Communication is the problem, as seen. It's time for us to individually attempt communication nationally and internationally whether or not our "leaders" declare it a government policy.

I believe the leaders are caught up in the same initiatives since time began. Are there many righteous world leaders? Were there ever?

Not to be genderistic, would women leaders tend to deal with race, poverty, human rights (not succeeded as yet, greed and power the same way? We've never had an opportunity to see....Margaret Thatcher was a tad scary though:-)

What a brilliant idea, Breen. That 'we the people' begin establishing communications and negotiations since we don't see anyone else taking the leadership role.

I don't know whether gender makes a difference. But, by each of us taking steps within our own community to form lines of communication. To help those in need. To create at the local level support systems, etc. Even at these levels governments cut back on services and non-profits cannot make ends meet.

Even though we can voice our opinions on the social networks, but action speaks louder than words. See my other hubs for the potential for limiting what we can read and say on social networks.

The folks in the video above may be put into 'camps' of some kind if this #OWS gets out of hand. And, on the other front, there is the potential to be quarantined into internment 'camps' if a wide spread epidemic and creates a health risk.

How to stay strong amidst what may come in the future of this nation?

Breen Bergstrome 3 months ago

Build on self...starts right there....miracles are possible if we can rise above "the walls" and believe in self. Sounds simplistic but remains the biggest hurdle...we would have to change history...individuals are chronically born and raised to follow the leader.

Restrictions abound when paranoia is present. I applaud your mandate to give voice to those who don't know where to begin or what to feel.

With great admiration,

Breen

The greedy will never let go of what they have stolen from the rest of us. We actually won a big one in the UK today as a top banker was forced into foregoing his 1.5 million dollar bonus.

It does seem as if the peolple CAN'T give up this time, they really need more equality to survive and politicos are half-heartedly responding.

Dear Breen and Bob ~ You have hit upon a very good point ~~ sustaining the energy to not give up the fight. When I see so many people out in the streets, it gives me hope that people are not apathetic, that people are willing to take some action. If people can gain through legal means, having professionals and influential people wade through the red tape to speak to people that can provide funds for building infrastructure, take chances with independent thinking and innovation, take chances to build sustainable buildings using low cost passive energy system, provide retraining programs for those who have lost jobs, get people bartering on services, and many other possible modes of getting to a better place for all, then we will be headed in the right direction.

Thanks for your input, Breen. Truly, if people believed in them self, they would not feel inadequate and constantly need to put up those protective walls.

And, Bob, thank you for informing us what's happening across the pond.

Waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Debby, I forgot what the Occupy Wall Street was all about so am now confused reading this.

Debby Bruck profile image

Debby Bruck Hub Author 3 months ago

Dear Cardisa ~ Please click the link above "My First Occupy Wallstreet Blog" Basically, the citizens of the United States, calling themselves the 99% who have been left in the dust, while the stock brokers and bankers - the rich 1% - received a huge hand out from the government (paid by the people's taxes) to help get them out of debt when the economy crashed. The US has an enormous financial debt that keeps rising.

The United States spent about $1 trillion of US taxpayers' funds only through 2011, so you can imagine. Lives have been lost and families endangered.

The housing market went bust because all of the faulty loans and skyrocking cost of homes. After the crash people could not pay their mortgages, the unemployment rate fell to 8.5 percent in December of 2011, the lowest since February 2009 and I don't think it is much better now, could be worse in many states.

Thus, people band together and protest in the streets about their concerns making known their disappointment in the governmental actions, all of social services lacking, cuts in civil employment, benefits, etc.

We are waiting for those in leadership positions to formulate some basic tangible methods to help those in need, to secure our national financial situation, to get us out of war in un-winnable places where we are not able to help their internal civil strife.

Many people have been 'camping' out in local parks to protest. continual speeches, cheering and supporting this effort to be heard and not feel invisible.

So, you see, here in the US, we have unrest, people struggling to put food on the table, to get their family medical attention, to be able to have a roof over their heads. Is this America?

If we focus on the positive do we live within the positive while others absorb the negative?

Is it possible to oust the powerful corporations who buy elections?

Is America forever broken?

What would it look like to reclaim America for the people?

Hugs my sister! B

We need you and me and some more good people together to concentrate on the positive. The big monopolies, those who get sucked up in temptations of greed will always be there. We just need to create our own world and leave them in the dust. From dust to dust.

Keep blogging, writing to representatives, making our voices heard. Show the healthy innovations to provide energy, jobs, healthy families. Be a model. Love, Debby
