I recently attended a religious ceremony for a young 12-year old girl who's name, Nehamah, means "comfort" in Hebrew. She gave a compassionate, intelligent speech about the meaning of water and our connection to this vital life-giving natural phenomena. She explained how religious people equate water with the words of Torah [The Five Books of Moses] using metaphors like heavenly energy falling to earth as rain. These water droplets add up and become streams, rivers, lakes and finally oceans. She described in poetic terms the fine line between Noah's flood and G-d's ability to provide an appropriate amount to sustain, cleanse and purify life.

The Number 40 Represents A Test and A Cleansing Period

Even though this well-educated young lady spoke eloquently about water, its spiritual history and her personal connection through biblical stories, she may not know about something happening in her own backyard. We call it fracking, the mining of gas from shale rocks. And, as she spoke about Miriam, the prophetess, for whose sake the Hebrew people received fresh water 'from a rock' during the 40 years wandering through the desert to the promised land of Israel, I thought of fracking. The maxim, "You can't get water from a rock" also came to mind. How many generations must pass before we make choices that will be kind to the earth and kind to each other?

Getting Water From A Rock | Only Moses and Aaron Can Do That Safely
And now we try to get water from a rock, and unfortunately, we will end up killing ourselves in the process. Do you believe the gas industry has a method to extract this gas "safely?" Think again. I said only Moses and Aaron could hit the rock and have a clear stream of fresh water to quench the thirst of the community. But, even they had their troubles when this act was done improperly!

We Seem To Have Sunk To A New Low

We can only drink pure unsalted water to sustain human life. Polluted water means we have a polluted spirit. So many ways mankind has dumped effluent and wastes into our water ways. The corrupt continues this practice, due to greed; and yet, sometimes people actually feel they do good without realizing the greater negative outcome. Are they receiving tampered facts and figures? Are they fooling themselves? Not concerned with the contamination and consequential harm to human life, they concern themselves with jobs, financial gain and providing an abundant energy source. Have they calculated into their figures the total effects of killing living organisms, or the enormous cost of causing sickness? That, I say, does not outweigh the benefits to economic development.

Can Fracking be connected to the "Strange Sounds Around The World : In Sky, On Earth, Underground?"

As industry continues to drill holes underground like voles, moles and other rodents that dig tunnels in agricultural fields or yards, we can possibly see repercussions. Do you notice the word "percussion" within this consequential result of digging underground? As the earth starts to collapse, we could be creating a fragile earth that begins to moan and grown. As this sound occurs deep within the earth, the hollow whining might help explain these strange earth sounds.

I'm not sure anyone else agrees with this hypothesis. However, if these noises and sounds portend the future and are warning signs then we had better start to evaluate our methods of obtaining energy from the earth in this way. With the quick influx of fracking, the marketing by lobbyists and bribery to representatives must be exposed. The public must speak out, vote their hearts, blog, and call up representatives and leave a message.

A huge list of negative outcomes will be the result of the fracking industry such as the release of methane gas which would be much worse that pig farms.

You might say, why worry, if it is not happening in your backyard?

Just remember that we are composed of many states bound together. The soot, toxic dust, contaminated water ways all move between state lines, down mountains, across plains, into the oceans, up into the atmosphere. We are ALL affected.

When lives are at stake, then entire families must suffer. We Americans are mobile and your friends and family may be living in many states that will be affected by this industry. We are the family of mankind.

You might ask, "Is Fracking Even Worse Than Drilling?"

William Fisher responds to this question with an emphatic, "yes!" Why, because they essentially are different forms of drilling. One being implemented near the ground's surface, the other digging like a deep root tap into the bowels of the earth and then spreading outward.

The authentic term for 'fracking' is hydraulic fracturing. In this process, the plant injects tons of good water and a blend of toxic chemicals into reservoirs to fracture shale rock, which allows gas and oil to escape. The robbing Peter to pay Paul philosophy of wasting so much fresh water to capture some of this energy source, gas/oil, doe not equate. In addition, the process spoils the once potable fresh water, which we know will become more scarce.

How Deep Is That Well?

"Pennsylvania, state regulators found that gas drilling using high-volume fracking has caused contaminated drinking water, polluted surface waters, polluted air, and contaminated soils. Fracking uses hundreds of undisclosed chemicals, which are mixed with water and pumped underground, directly through aquifers, to fracture rock. The cocktail of chemicals used in the fracking process is “undisclosed” from the public because it is considered to be a trade secret and proprietary information. We do know some of the individual chemicals used in fracking operations and, while these make up just a fraction of the total materials in the fluid, they include recognized carcinogens and hazardous materials such as hydrochloric acid and ethylene glycol."

In NC a Free testing program, which would identify levels of methane, chemicals and compounds present in the water, is available for land owners and will help the final analysis with facts and figures regarding contaminated drinking water. [See News and Observer ] Because fracking spells shale gas money we have reasons to worry, when people are not top priority.

Home owners have complained of unexplained illnesses and water discoloration from oil drilling from fracking shale using deadly chemicals. As a precaution, some energy companies have supplied households with bottled water deliveries or potable water storage tanks. Doesn't that tell you something?

The Fracking Industry Has Non-Disclosure Protection | A source of national concern by educated citizens and elected officials in all states may have a chance to get full disclosure if a bill sponsored by Bozeman, Montana, Senator Bob Hawks, passes to force the oil and gas industries to disclose all the chemicals used in processing, which at this time is not public information.

Does industry have to right to keep their intellectual information secret? Is there a difference between learning what chemicals go into the earth during the fracking process and the ingredients that coka-cola mixes into their secret formula?
